Timing combined with "reading the room".
Susan Lamb
40:15
I've been meaning to re-read this!
Dominique Yelle
40:56
Same! My first time was in med school. Would be curious on my take as attending
Dominique Yelle
41:03
and the O sign vs Q sign
Susan Lamb
41:22
I'm currently reading Catch-22 and what Francis is examining all resonates... and there was Catch-22 on the cover of House of God. Absurd humor...
Vicki LeBlanc
41:31
what is the O sign vs Q sign? Never heard that one
Dominique Yelle
42:36
Unconscious patient mouth gaping open = O, Add to that the tongue off to the side = Q.... said to be prognostic of death
Vicki LeBlanc
44:29
Is it bad that I just laughed at that description?
Susan Humphrey-Murto
45:12
Mouth - of patients when unwell - "0" and when deceased "Q"...so i recall...
Dominique Yelle
45:35
I think that's exactly what is meant to be explored! It's a gruesome and grossly crude way of referring to those approaching end of life. So is it the "coping" mechanism to keep ourselves at arms length
Susan Lamb
50:36
Oh yes, many paramedic friends and all hilarious!
Dominique Yelle
51:26
Nurses as well! Married to one, the things he said while working med onc... very dark humor
Susan Lamb
52:16
Katie Watson also the expert on use of Medical Improv in med. ed. and an alumna of Second City in Chicago.

Dominique Yelle
01:11:14
I don't have the opportunity to join DIME rounds too often but enjoyed this very much! Super well done talk, and thanks for opportunity for discussion
Susan Lamb

"Yes, and..."!!
Susan Lamb
01:11:43
Accepting the invitation from patient
Susan Lamb
01:12:48
Yes, Cristian is right on: humor is dependent upon shared culture.
Dominique Yelle
01:13:31
As you said above, dependent on ability to read the room. Which in itself is an acquired skill..
Dominique Yelle
01:14:20
Tout a fait Vicki!!
Max Hincke
01:14:50
